In the studio this week

Lane Architects is researching for a new white-based kitchen for a house refurbishment. We have been looking at monochrome or veined kitchen surfaces?

Research for Kitchen Refurbishment

We like these newly discovered products – Avonite solid surfaces which come in a surprisingly broad palette of colours. It can be used in vertical or horizontal applications, applied in straight or curved lines, or thermoformed into shapes.

And also Hi-Macs.

If you are looking for seamless, hygienic and stain free surfaces which are durable, colourfast and easy to maintain, then you could consider using acrylic solid surfaces for your kitchen project. They are heat resistant and water resistant, unlike solid wood worktops and tend to be a less expensive option than granite worktops. They can also be made from recycled materials if sustainable design is important.
